I have about a 6 month old albino cornsnake. He has a very large cage with a big enough rock type bowl to submerge himself in, a tree branch, and a half coconut shell for a hideaway. He NEVER goes in his water bowl though. I've seen a lot of people on here saying that they have to be submurged...do they???

I have a California king snake. They are pretty similar. I've had him 3 years and maybe seen him submerged 2 or 3 times.Even if you don't see him do it still leave the bowl big enough for him to get in in his cage. That way if he needs to he can get in their. They will usually do it when they are getting ready to shed, it makes it a little easier. Don't worry if he don't, your snake knows when he needs to soak and when he don't. It's probably better he don't cause then you know the air in his cage isn't to dry for him.

put the bowl by the edge some snakes will do laps but never see the middle of thier cage this maybe the problem if you have a huge tank with a small snake. snakes do better when tiny in a small cage. see snakes are not cruzing all over they like to stay hidden just some ideas from a breeder

Corns aren't an aquatic snake, obviously, so like somebody up above said, take that as a sign of good health. I'll reiterate what somebody else said too. They go in their water for rehydration and for helping along a shed. They will also go in the water (for a LOOOOONG time) to alleviate the discomfort caused by mites, so if you ever DO see yours in the water a lot, be sure to check real well for them!

I had 2 large corn snakes they don't normally submerge themselves but they will drink the water. If you don't think it's getting enough water, fill your tub with some warm water not hot, and not alot just enough water so that it is half way on the snakes side. And let it swim around.

I have 4 corn snakes and only 2 of them like to submerge themselves in water and they only do it when they are close to shedding. Be glad, it means your snake is healthy!

If the snake needs to be in the water, he will go in the water. Just make sure he always has the choice between light and dark, hot and cool, and wet and dry.
