I own a IIBM laptop, iseries type 2611 410. Comes with a 4gb drive and operating on win98. If I purchase a 30gb drive, are there any hardware issues when installing Windows XP with this laptop.

Without XP I am finding it difficult to find a wireless network card that works, not to mention finding it diffult to operate on 4GB. .

In order to just install XP you need minimum 233MHz processor, 128MB RAM and 1.5GB available storage. Of course the minimums are for if all you are doing is running XP and don't intend to install or run any other programs, or store any other data. If you have at least a 300MHz processor and 512MB RAM and you install the 30GB HD, you will have a system that is configured to run XP pretty well. If not, you should wait until you can afford a new machine, even a low end machine will be configured this good.

It depends on the other specs on the computer....like the CPU speed and how much RAM is installed. I don't know if you're trying to install Win XP Pro or Home, so here are the pages for both, even though I think the requirement for both are pretty much the same.

That drive is way too big for the BIOS of your older computer. It would take a lot of finagling and you might never get your money's worth.

To answer your question yes.
