If your home is in foreclosure were you paying the mortgage? I dont think you two have been paying much of anything. Seek debt counseling and go from there, divorce is not always the answer to every little problem in a marriage, i mean if you came on here and said he beats me and the kids, now we are living in these conditions because he is so controlling I would say hit the door running. But in your case now i think you should seek financial advice and take a course in finances. Or you need to find a third party to take care of your money. Until you have completed the courses and think you will be able to live a productive life with out overspending, the money is going somewhere and you need to figure that part out too. You can always have his check direct deposited into an account, have the utility companies and the mortgage holder withdraw the payments automatically every month. Good luck to you all.

Wow - he's got to be in way over his head. I know what commercial realtors make so if he isn't paying bills with his money, he's got it bad.
As one of the other answerers suggested, start your own accounts (if you don't have them already). Checking and savings. If you have joint credit cards try to be removed from them ASAP or put a freeze on them - he is probably taking out cash advances and being charged big time for them. Unfortunately, the cards usually have to be paid off for you to be removed, as the bank will want someone else to go after in cases on non-payment. The freeze may be possible though. Also, you can put an 'alert' on these cards to make them harder for him to use. That will work both ways, though, you may have to have a pin # or special appoval to use them as well. Don't give him the pin #. Check on any investment accounts, retirement accounts, etc. that you may have together - he's probably hit those too. Right now you will have to focus on damage control. He will probably be angry with you but, in the long run, you are doing him a favor as well as saving yourself.
Check around for a program (there's a number on the back of most scratch-off or lottery tickets you can call for advice).
Call all of the accounts that are overdue - try to work things out with them and make some sort of payment arrangements before it's too late (don't just assume it's already too late). There are credit counseling companies out there that may be able to help also. If you can try to arrange to have all bills paid directly out of his paycheck - and yours too, if you contribute that much. That way he can only gamble with whats left over if it comes to that.
You should also seek counseling, alone or together, outside of any counseling that he undergoes.

Gambling is an addiction and it can ruin families. You'll have to give him an ultimatum, it's either his family or the gambling. He'll need support from family, counseling, and probably some kind of debt consolidation program.

If he continues putting the gambling before his family you may have to part ways. A person with a gambling problem is as dangerous as a drug addict. They'll lie, steal, cheat, and re-organize to keep up the addiction.

first find a lawyer to help you with the town house problem. then YOU take over the checkbook and everything associated with it. that would include you making the deposits, withdrawls, check writing and taking away his atm card/debit card. if the problem continues and the credit cards are maxed, then cancel those cards. put him on an allowance. then give him an ultimatum - gamblers anonymous or you are out of there.

good luck sweetie.

your husband seems to have a gambling addiction and he needs to get help------couseling, GA(Gamblers Anonymous) to name just 2 areas. call the back and try to work some kind of arrangement out with them. And time for you and the hubby to have a serious sit down and let him know the seriousness of the situation. Blessings.

Do you remember several years back, a woman by the name of Lorena Bobbitt?

Do what she did.

Cut off his penis while he's sleeping, get in your car and throw it out the window after you've driven several blocks.
