1 - watching others use, abuse and screw themselves up i the process, smartened me up enough not to become like one of them
2 - depends onthe area and social climate - poverty and boredom are big instigators
3 - instill better parenting workshops, better educational opportunities, and self respect in out of school activities in the community that actually promote self worth, eg part time jobs, skill development, sports teams etc. will work for some, not all, but boy - each one saved is one less.
see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil, think no evil, do no evil...

1. Personally, a youth in the family is tied up with drugs and not only has this youth stolen from me, but from others in the family and then of course the stress of being constantly in trouble including incarceration. There is a price to pay for those around the drug user. ('affected' rather than 'effected' by the way.)
2. Well, my primary answer would be the lack of God in their lives. The answer most likely not to get you laughed out of school would be that youth are too worried about 'respect' and being 'dissed' or whatever they these days. No one lets anything slide because everyone is afraid their reputation (or their own self-image) will take a hit.
3. I can raise my kids, try to influence the youth around me and I can evangelize.
poem? song? not on your life.

1. Youth violence hasn't affected my life as I ran away from home at 10, I dropped out of school in the 5th grade and went on the road to play blues guitar with people who had been in the business for a long time.
2. Causes include: bad relationship with parents, abuse (physical, mental, sexual), drug use, enviroment, social class, etc. Don't blame TV and videogames, that's a cop out, a bad excuse for poor parenting.
3. Education can prevent it.
I can write a song about anything.

when i was a kid
and what my parents did
made me want to do some skid
the pain is all i knew
so its all i could do
people treat me like a shoe
slap me with their poo
so screw all those of you
who tell me what to do
ill go find a friend to smoke a joint
at least he doesnt care if i have a point
and when he steals from me
ill go shoot him like the real G
all of this to say, i am nobody
because no one ever loved me
hows that for two minutes......
kiddyish huh,,,,lol
after reading the other comments
give me a break, a lack of god...... where is god.... to these kids?
does he lessen their pain,,,,,,
The one and only cause is loss of the wisdom of the grandparents and the extended family.......
children are left to be raised by single parents with the selfish grandparents off in florida.....
and we have no left over energy to be with our children because we have to work 60 hours a week to survive.......
the religion actually contributes to the trauma by alienating teenagers that follow their culture of sexual relations etc...

Do you're own homework for gosh sakes! You should be able to answer these questions on your own unless you live on planet perfect. Try and enjoy writing a song or a poem -- this is a chance to let your creativity come alive. Good luck.
