It's not just the file extension you want to change, doing that in itself wouldn't accomplish anything, you're actually looking to change the file into a completely different format. Which luckily is pretty easy in terms of the two file formats you're talking about here.

First up, install DbPowerAmp Music Converter. It's free, well known, has no spyware included and can be downloaded from here:

After you've installed it, right-click on your mp3 file and select the "Convert to" option. This'll pop-up a little dialogue with various conversion options. You want to make sure that the drop-down labelled "Converting 1 file to" right at the top of the dialogue is set to "Wave", then just click OK. DbPowerAmp will do it's thing and drop a WAV format copy of the original mp3 into the same directory as the mp3 lives in. And you're done.

you need a file converter from mp3 to wav, your player may have the utility and wav is bigger in size than mp3.

OOne decision would be an Audio Converter like AED kit, or you could burn with nero an digital adudio CD then loded with nero force, and ripped as MP3 with I tunes or Mplayer 10.
