I saw it on a science channel. It was just a what if type deal, but it would be nice to be able to hop on that train and just go if you wanted to.

No.

Let's take a look. From New York City, US to Madrid, Spain is 3587 miles. If you were to drive that distance at an average speed of 85 miles per hour, it would take 42.2 hours to drive that distance. Furthermore, no currently produced automobile could make that distance without re-fueling.

Assuming the tunnel is going to be underwater. The Atlantic Ocean is about 5.23 miles deep. The pressure exterted at that depth would crush any human being not in a pressurized environment and even the smallest crack in such a tunnel would collapse the whole thing due to the tremendous pressure.

I could go on, but that should be enough to make the point that no, not now, probably not ever.

Not true and entirely imposible to build safely. The problem is continental drift; Europe and North America get about 3"-5" further apart each year. The depth of the ocean floor is also far to deep to support a tunnel (the weight of the ocean would collapse it.)

There is a second France to Great Britton tunnel in the works though.

I'm not sure, but I think this is a great idea! I'd prefer a train tunnel over one that is for cars.
