It depends really.
Blue eyes should stay away from harsh black eyeliners since it tends to make the eye look smaller. Dark browns look best here. Greens are along the same line too.
Brown eyes and hazel eyes can get away with the black eyeliner fine since the color is strong enough to compete with.

a lot of that would depend on your complexion, hair color & eye color. I have brown hair and brown/hazel green eyes. I find that black can be harsh looking to wear day to do and I wear clinique water resistant eyeliner in muted brown most days. When I do dress up or go out for an evening out, I will wear black to kind of do that 1940s style glam look.

I would say brown for any one. I think black looks too harsh. I was a big fan of black eye liner back in the day. Now when I look back at pics with me wearing it, way too harsh looking. Go for a nice brown or taupe color. Remember, when it comes to make up, less is more. Don't over do it. And liquid liners last a heck of a lot longer then pencils. Good luck!

Black is best but brown is for a more natural look!

personally i think a dark purple is always pretty. i also like brown. some ppl use black and they end up looking like a racoon!use natural colors and u can use more!

Anything should be ok... if you have light eyes and go with black, dont put it on too thick. Also, if you have brown eyes, I would probably do black.

black! i have light eyes and blonde hair, but brown looks bad on me. and if u have dark eyes or dark hair, blacks better anyways, so go w/ black

well not knowing anything about you i would say black it looks good ad you never know about brown so go with black

In my opinion, black gives you a more dramatic, smokey, and sultry look. But brown looks softer.

depends on your hair color and eye color. light girls (blondes and lighter) should go with brown, its less harsh. darker go with black. you coudl go with a great eggplanty/purple if you are the colors of your avatar. it would look great!
