Rhianna, Mariah, pussycat dolls...etc. Why don't some good bands get the spotlight?

Today's music focuses more on rythm than melody, which is why I prefer older music personally. That's not to say though that there aren't modern bands I like, it's just that you have to dig a little deeper for them.

Of course the rock and roll revolution was considered pointless noise when it began, so I guess it's just an uncomfortable change in scenery.

What do you mean? I also see Rihanna and Pussycat Dolls as crap but it wouldn't be THAT popular if NOBODY liked it. Besides, there are plenty of great bands in the spotlight at the moment (I don't know what spotlight you're watching)

Rhianna and Maraih Carey can sing. There are some talentless singers but WE are the ones that keep there success going, obviously someone likes and is buying there music.

media attention automatically is diverted to reality tv winners (or dropouts as the latest trend seems to be).
as depressing as it is, it's true.
but it's best to keep looking on the underground or maybe for bands you missed a while ago.
what kind of music do you like anyway? i might be able to help you.

Welcome to adulthood. The music media caters to the tases of thirteen year old black girls.........always has.

Speaking in broad, general terms, music started downhill around 1973, and has never recovered.

I dunno, people are sheep basically , they don't know why they like what they listen to , they know their friends like it - and so on...and so on - that's why it's popular i guess. I'm losing faith in humanity....
