Even though the acronymn is PEMDAS, it doesn't mean you do multiplication before division.
Addition and subtraction are at the same "level". When doing either one, you do them left to right, not addition before subtraction.
Same with multiplication and division. 12/3*2 = 8, not 2.
So they probably ought to call it:
PEM(MD)(AS)
1) Parentheses first
2) Then exponents
3) Then the unary minus (I dunno why they leave this out of PEMDAS...?) The unary minus is like -3, a minus that makes a number negative.
4) Then multiplication and division from left to right
5) Then addition and subtraction from left to right.

Answer: 15
How to get there: Ignoring everything else you have 12/3*2. Because of the way the problem is written the 2 is multiplying all of 12/3... other wise is would be written 12/(3*2). Now, if 12/3 is all being multiplied by 2 that means that 12/3 is in parentheses and parentheses are the first thing you do you have your answer.
What it really looks like: 6+(12/3)*3-(4+3)+2^3
Hope that helped.

6+12/3*2-(4+3)+2^3
= 6 + (12/3)*2 - (4+3) + (2^3)
= 6 + 4*2 - (4+3) + (2^3)
= 6 + 8 - 7 + 8 = 15

this is parenthesis, exponents, mult. and branch from left to top, and addition and subtraction from left to top. Ex. (14+3)-4 squared x 2= 17-4 squared x 2= 17-16 x 2= a million x 2= a million

When it comes to multiplying and dividing and then substraction and addition you work from left to right. So whatever comes first in the equation. Otherwise you follow the rule PEMDAS

15 is correct. For operations of equal precedence, you have to evaluate from left to right, hence the division is done first.

think of this " Please Exuse my dear aunt sally".
Please- Parentheses
Excuse-Exponent
My- multiply
dear- divide
aunt- addition
subtraction - SAlly
do it in the order written- starting from "please" to " Sally"
like, parentheses and exponants are at the same level, so it matters which one comes first. same with multiplication n division , and addition and subtraction
