My British friends are not online - or computer-friendly, for that matter.

I would mail it. Specially for that amount. I've mailed money quiet few times and never had a problem, i mean small amounts. just rap it between two post cards, and you'll be safe. to comfort you, once I'd sent $100us to Cuba to help a friend/life guard, whom i got to know, while on vacation. Trust me, you'll be OK, and LOW COST !

you can get a money order and send it via mail. i have a paypal account and i transfer money from my bank to paypal and send it to whoever i want. i even pay my rent using paypal. its usually free except for international transaction which they charge usd12 for every usd100 that sent. if you dont have a paypal, you might want to consider my earlier advice or a travellers cheque with his/her name on it. cheers and good luck!

You can wire it to their bank account, if they have one, otherwise use paypal.
