the dell xps M1710 laptop. I thought all dell was cheap i guess i was wrong I could buy an E1705 with the same specs for $500 less and if you want a better graphics card add way more to the already excessive $2299

No, the XPS line is quite pricey at the upper end, but look at what you are getting. This is a very good machine.

Well I actually configured two exactly the same, and the difference I got was $385. This doesn't take into account the fact that the E1705 was on sale, at regular price it would be $225 cheaper. The XPS does have the ability to be expanded farther, and has built in speakers.

Because you're buying the ***BRAND*** name product. They always do that to the consumer. Gateway used to do the same exact thing. People buy it for the brand name.
If you buy some other computer brand with the same specs make sure you get your 3 year warrantee on parts and labor unless you know how to repair them yourself.

Dell and Gateway are generally more expensive because they allow you to pick and choose the make-up of the computer.

Because it is a corporation owned biz and PS it sucks!!!!! because if you go to send it in to get it fixed you have to know exactly what is wrong with it or they will not even look at it and send it back.
