bowling is fine when pregnant, in fact it is one of my favorite pass times when i am pregnant. Just watch out for those muscles you never knew existed!!! LOL

My doctor told me no with both pregnancies. It's not the weight really (10 pounds...come one now lol!) but it's the movements with the weights. The way you typically bowl and the movements in the pelvic area is what can be dangerous. It adds the the danger considering your hips are already "loosened" (your joints loosen during pregnancy and are more prone to injury) from the hormones and preparing for delivery. I still went and watched and hung out with my friends, but never bowled. Whenever you have a question of this standard, you will probably trust your own doctor's opinion though. GOOD LUCK!!

I am almost 34 weeks pregnant and I still bowl on my leaugue. However, as with any activity, you shouldnt begin doing it while pregnant. When I asked my midwife when I first got pregnant, she said pretty much anything was fine as long as you were already doing it prepregnancy and in the first few weeks. If you decide to go, you should listen to your body and if you begin to feel a pulling in your stomach, you may want to stop because your body nor your baby is used to this.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Can I go, too? Seriously, be careful of all the movements. Take it easy when throwing the ball.

I know when I was 16 weeks I went up the huge slide at a fair with my little girl (carrying her) and nearly killed myself because my muscles started to cramp. I thought I could still be superwoman while carrying one in the oven. LOL.

you should avoid anything that would make you have to move very suddenly, say throwing a ball at a fast pase onto the floor.

I think you might be too far along for this, I know sometimes when I laugh hard i feel like i've pulled something in my tummy,

Be careful

Bowling balls weigh 10lbs (some much less) and when pregnant it is considered safe to lift 35 lbs.

Do be careful though, if it hurts stop. Also be careful with your posture and try not to lean to the side too much.

Edited to add:
Come on guys people bike, ski, do yoga, aerobic, pilates, tai chi, lift weights, etc during pregnancy. If you did it before you are pregnant, pay attention when you are exercising to minimize joint stress and pay attention to your body and listen when your body says enough you will be fine.

(Also of course your doc said no, if they say yes and you hurt yourself you could sue them)

I am a EMT, and i am not quite sure if you should be playing bowling at this point in the pregnancy. It would be most beneficial to you to limit the amount of weight you carry from here on out.

I bowled with a 10 lb ball in a league till i became 8 months pregnant. in case you do not bowl on a classic foundation you're slightly sore from the bowling. only be careful...bowling might want to be slippery.

I had the same prob while pregnant.
You can throw your back out or twist the wrong way and hurt yourself or the baby, so it would be better if you stayed away from bowling!
Sorry!
