its the rock cycle man, igneous melts under heat and pressure and then cools to become metamorphic. It gets eroded into little pieces and then cemented together with sediments, making sedimentary, which can be morphed into metamorphic, and so on and so forth,

Hi. Steve is pretty much correct. The largest scale involves subduction zones where one tectonic plate dives below another. ALL types of rock go in, but only igneous comes out. (Through volcanoes.)
