Mine used to squeal whenever the refriderator door was opened. Hysterical. I've seen them hop a bit too.

Oh yeah- that is totally normal. My son's guinea pig "Max" jumps and runs around whistleing when he gets home. He does this scratching thing too where he throws all of his bedding out of his cage. It sucks to clean up, but he's happy.

It is quite usual for a healthy guinea pig,
to jump around skittishly, in its cage ,
it is a sign of well being ,
he is having fun
.
I love the way they greet you with a squeak ,
when you visit their cage .
Guinea pigs make the sweetest of pets .
There is not an ounce of malice in them
