We are finally computerized at the hospital where I work and a lot of my co-workers are in a tizzy because they can't type. Are there classes available anymore to learn to type or have they gone the way of the dinosaur?

They aren't called typing classes any more, instead it is "keyboarding" but it's the same thing. For a lot less money, you can buy Mavis Beacon Teaches typing, in versions from 9 to 16. anyone can learn to type using that, and do it fairly quickly. It can be loaded onto as many computers as you have available, so your co-workers can use it at their convenience. Mavis CD's are fairly cheap, $10 or under. If you buy online, stick with SoftwareOutlet.com, Buy.com and StarCDRom. They are all reputable and honest, I've used them for years. Registration is free and shipping is very nominal.

Funny I like that.. hunt and peck. I call it one finger half blind typing. I don't peek at the keyboard, but I do see a lot of that around me. There are classes you can take, or they can buy software. I am not sure how well the software works. I never used software, just blogged a lot, and before I knew it, I could do it without looking.

I don't know that you need to take a class, but they are available. You could probably get a fun program for around 10 bucks at Best Buy.

If you are going to type, you need to learn to type, not hunt and peck. This only took me 45 seconds or so to type, it would have taken all day to hunt and peck!

I type 90-100wpm, with no mistakes.
I'm sure I could go much faster, with some mistakes.

I practice constantly.

You can get typing programs online. I use Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.
