The microwave causes hot spots and doesnt warm the formula evenly. I know people who use the microwave and there hasnt been a problem but I always put the bottle under hot water from the tap or put water in a bowl and microwaved the water then stuck the bottle of formula in the bowl of hot water to warm up.
Note: For my son who is now 19mo, I would buy bottled water and keep it at room temp and use that water to make the bottle. Since it was room temp there was no need to warm it (Never put formula or breatsmilk back in the fridge after use - bacteria can grow).

You shouldn't microwave formula for 2 reasons. First, the microwave destroys some of the nutrients in the formula, and second, it's hard to control the temperature. I find that a bottle warmer is the best way.

What I did with my son ( I'm a father of a 2 year old boy) is I bought the nursery brand water, they come in gallon jugs and left them at room temperature. Warm milk actually upsets alot of babies stomachs because baby formula will actually spoil if in the microwave and then set out for too long. If you use the microwave, 10 seconds max depending on how hot your microwave gets. drip it on the bottom of your wrist to check the temperature before feeding. Gather all the bottles you have and fill each bottle with the powder for the formula and set aside whenever you need it, then all you have to do is add water, shake and feed.

No - a microwave doesn't heat up the formula evenly. So you'll only end up with cold spots (Murphy's Law: the spot you'll test, will be the cold spot) and burning hot spots which will definitely cause your baby harm. The easiest way to heat up a baby bottle, is to put the bottle into a container with warm water & test it before giving it to baby.

Well you are not supposed too, because of 'Hot Spot' and the fact that the microwave kills alot of the important nutrients that are in the formula that your baby needs. I just nuked the water and then added the formula. Good Luck!

I microwave the water for like 10 seconds then make the formula. If you microwave the formula it can kill the nutrients...you really arnet soposed to microwave it but when my sons hungry he wants it right away. And you shouldnt need to warm it after you make it because formula is only good for an hour after its started to be drunk because bacteria can grow...
hope this helps.

There is nothing wrong with warming the formula in the microwave. Just make sure it's not too hot.

The older generations says no, but i did and they are normal active kids with alot of energy. I wonder if it is because of the microwaved formula. Just make sure you don't over heat. Heat it just enough to knock the chill off of it. Shake it well and let it set for about a minute to make sure there are no hot spots.

No. You never microwave formula. It can cause hot spots and baby bottles aren't microwavable. Plastic from the bottle starts to break down into the formula and baby can ingest it.

Well your not supposed to, but I have cause it's an easier way and faster way to get the baby what he/she's crying for. But heres an idea if you have a crock pot/slow cooker put water in it ahead of time set it on warm or low let the water get warm enough you can put the bottle in it for a minute or so and it'll get warm. This is what we use when I worked in a child care facility. You can pretty much leave it on as long as you need it.
