My initial thought would be fear of success..but that isnt it. Having a comfortable life, losing it, and regaining it all and more and yet teeter on the edge of losing it all again. Any thoughts on this? During financial loss, there were several strong support systems. Is it laziness? How can a determined individual be lazy? Is it taking life for granted? I am exceptionally interested to hear feedback on this.

Kinda sounds like the pattern of my life. As long as I'm fighting up from the ashes of disaster I am intrigued and excited at the idea that I can overcome where most would just give up. But then you come to the place where you've been trying to reach only to find out that you aren't doing anything other than what millions of other responsible people do everyday. I think that is where the fear of success comes in. Once the individual realizes that the basic success is a common thing, they find themselves faced with the challenge of actually going forward and truly doing something more than ordinary, or just sitting in their mediocrity like the rest of us. For for the overcomer its not about the end result, it's the fight to get there that is stimulating. Fear of too much success can cause a person like this to want to start over again to regain that feeling of overcoming instead of going forward and truly doing something out of the ordinary.

You have diagnosed it yourself. Sounds like "fear of success" to me.
