You are probably referring to the connect button. This button is use to add wireless controllers to your Xbox 360! To connect you wireless controller to your console:
1. Press the Xbox Guide button to turn on your controller.
2. Press the Power button to turn on the console.
3. Press the Connect button on the Console.
4. Press the Connect button on the controller.
5. After the Ring of Light on the controller and console spin and flash once, the controller is connected. The quadrant that remains lighted indicates the controller's positions.

Well it depends how you have your 360, flat, or standing, if it's standing it would probably be the "search" button, if your press it on the consol and on a wireless remote then it will hook the controller up to that 360, in case you take your controller over your friends house to play, you would have to do it on his/her xbox 360 then you have to set it back up on your xbox 360 when your done.
