shaving it down is good, or give him a book to read during the cut, it shouldn't take to much time

Well it depends. If you're cutting his hair maybe it's just that he doesn't want you cutting it. Try a kids stylist. There are a few. Check the Yellow pages. You might try letting him hold a bear or a favorite toy, depending on his age. Also, bribery works well for this. If he behaves himself during his haircut then you'll go someplace he'd like to go. Chuck E. Cheese's or whatever. Good Luck

Nothing like a well placed bribe! Gameboy especially effective in this situation. Kids get IV's and shots while playing nintendo, why not a haircut?
Good luck!- dd

1) Have him go with another guy who is also getting their haircut. Let your son see how this person behaves.
2) Talk to your son & offer him a reward IF he behaves. If he does; then stick to your word & get it for him. If he doesn't; do not give in.

find one of those new children oriented hair salons that are popping up all over the place...my daughter goes to one and I found it to be a reasonably priced alternative to the regualr places...there was a play room with movies...tv screens showing dora, scooby doo and barney at the stations and for the smaller kids, 4 and under, you could sit in a pink car or a fire engine...the girl even put some glitter in my daughter's hair...all this for just $14.

Get one with him - side by side - make it a ritual that you do this together and have an activity before and after. The first time will suck, but each time he will start looking forward to it.

you could always say to him that if you be good you will give him something that he would like and then he might look forward to hair cuts
