Unless there is a rare book involved you won't get much. The best selling stuff is electronics and new technology. Collectables and some antiques. Browse around and search ebay. On the left hand column there is a function that allows you to see completed listings of that item. There are a lot of companies that offer there services to tell you what sells best on ebay. But in reality a little hard work of looking and you can find the same info for free.

Best way to tell is by looking up that item or very similar items and see what they're selling not. Be careful not to just look at what they're listed for, but if they have actual bidders and are selling. You can expect to sell items that are old or rare, or items that are typically marked up a lot in stores (ink cartridges, jewelry, etc.) selling well. Some of these are more of a buyers market than a sellers market though. Depends on your motivation if you're just cleaning house looking for cash or looking to find a regular cash flow....it can be hard, no matter what all the "self-help" books about ebay might be saying. Also watch the ebay and Paypal fees that can cut into your profit. I have and still do use ebay extensively, but be careful and picky about who you deal with so you don't get burned. Good luck!

You might want to check the key words you are using when you sell. Just using "craft supplies" in your title won't reel many people in. However, if you put specifics in your title, you might get more people interested. Instead of something like: "LARGE LOT OF CRAFT SUPPLIES," you might want to use a title such as "CRAFT LOT: QUILT FABRIC, CROCHET KNITTING YARN+." If you have name-brand items, by all means use the brand name in the title. ---I've found that craft supplies generally sell much better than completed craft items. Everyone wants to think that they can make something themselves......even if they never actually get around to it.
As far as books go, you can get a good idea of what books are going for by checking addall.com ---expect to get about half of the lowest price listed on addall, if you try to sell the book on eBay. You might find that listing books on Amazon does better for you. I list books at both eBay and Amazon and the formula I use is that I will see where a book ranks in popularity at Amazon and if it is low in popularity and a low dollar item, I will sell it on eBay and depend on clever key words to help move the item. If it is a higher dollar item, as well as a popular item on Amazon, I will list it there. I don't have a pro merchants account so my items will stay active for 60 days.
If you are selling collectible or rare books, you really need to take the time to educate yourself. Learn how to use a number line to determine a printing (just because a book might be a stated "1st Edition" doesn't mean that it isn't in it's 2nd or 3rd printing). Become familar with terms like "foxing, flyleaf, fore-edge, paste down, title and half-title page, etc." Become familiar with terms used in grading condition, and the difference between publishers' editions and book club editions---and their corresponding values. Ian Ellis' Book Finds is a good basic reference, and there are many others out there.
Good luck and have fun!

Yes you can try the books - but videos and video games seem to be hot. If you have a listing of an on-line selling web-site like e-bay that is local in your area - you might make more money. Here in my City there is a web-site call Used Ottawa.com and you can list your items on line for free!!! We sold our sofa on it.
