It's not enough to tell me what it is, I want to know WHY.

Lord Of the Rings - Trilogy

This is a tremendous adaptation of what is considered by many to be the greatest novel of the 20th Century.
It took 7 years to bring the story to the screen. New Line Cinema basically bet their entire comapny that this movie would be a success and entrusted a director with minimal credentials to bring it to life.
The story is a classic of underdogs who find the courage to defeat a seemingly invincible foe. The basic story is has been used countless times in fantasy video games which all seem to have wizards, and elves
The love of the movie by all the people involved is obvious in every scene. They obviously knew they were making a landmark movie.
Everything about the movie, technically, is the current state of the art - from the CGI characters to the cinematography to the 6.1 sound.
The music of the films - especially Return of the King can stand on its own on CD. Howard Shore, the composer, actually performed the music in concert several years ago.
The Return of the King is tied for winning the most Academy Awards with Ben Hur and Titanic with 11. It did this without winning a single acting award, which is a shame but since this was an ensemble production, I suppose it makes sense.

This is the movie you would make if you could have the absolute best of everything regardless of the cost.

An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. If you are not a romantic at heart, you won't understand this, but I asolutely love this film.

It is the one and only movie that no matter how many times I watch it, I still cry like a baby at the end. I know how it ends, I've seen it dozens of times, but I can't help it. When Cary Grant figures out that Deborah Kerr is the one who bought his painting and that means she is in a wheelchair and then he gets that look on his face and he know why she never showed up....oh god, here come the water works!

In short...I love that movie. Cary Grant is so adorable and the dialogue is so quick and witty. The only part I have to fast forward through is when they are on the ship and they are sitting next to each other at seperate tables and everyone is laughing at them. That's kinda annoying...otherwise, one of the best movies ever!!

(I do apologize if you've never seen the movie and I just spoiled the entire thing)

Too many to list for this space, but I can say that I do like the docudrama Nadia about the female Romanian gymnast Nadia Comenici (not sure of the correct spelling for the last name).

She was the first to score a perfect ten. I liked the gymnastic stunts even though they are old compared to what gymnasts perform now. And the movie was pretty good for it's time.

If you get the chance you should check it out.

That's a hard one but I would have to say Braveheart b/c acting like that takes real talent and the story line is great. Plus, it has plenty of violence and some romance. It covers everything. It's the perfect movie. Plus, it's based on a true story about William Wallis. It doesn't get any better than that.
