I am not certain how you can say that liberals dont like affirmative action(AA), since it was brought into law by a democratic president (Johnson) and congress.
I do not agree with your statement. However, I would not call you a racist if you do no support AA. There are some African Americans who do not agree with it either.
The African American comedian Chris Rock has a whole speech about how he does not believe in AA either. However, he does say, if both candidates are equally qualified for the position, it should go the African American (since white people had a 400 year start....lol).
Anyway, no your not a racist.

Affirmative Action is not a perfect program. Its goal is to create a level playing field for minorities. Who can deny that minorities in America rarely have the same opportunities as most Caucasians? Many opponents of AA claim that it's racism in reverse. This view is perfectly understandable. Occasionally, the application of these principles is not consistent with its philosophy. Consequently, it's not always fair. But on the whole, the benefits outweigh the side effects. And no, you are not a racist if you don't support AA.

While stereotypes are generally bad... I think it is assumed that liberals are more in favor of affirmative action than conservatives.
To answer your question, no... there are many reasons to disapprove of affirmative action without being racist.
Unless, of course, you're a straight up racist.

Hey, Ben.......how about looking at the pros and cons (no pun intended) on the issue, instead of drawing more blood?
Con - A poverty-stricken white student who uses discipline and hard work to become the best he can be can be passed over by a rich minority student who doesn't put in much effort at all.
Pro - Part of the education process is learning to interact with other races and nationalities. Many students live very segregated lives up until the time they start college. Thus, opinions of other races and nationalities are based on stereotypes. Interaction allows students to learn that persons of the opposite race are people, too.
Con - We shouldn't reward a student simply because he or she is a certain race, nor punish another student simply because he or she isn't.
Pro - Sincere, hard-working minority students are every bit as capable as white students, but because of these disadvantages, they may not have the same paper qualifications. Like it or not, affirmative action evens the playing field a bit.
You mentioned the word "faith" in a previous posting.
Tonight, get down on your knees and be thankful you were born white, and presumably, middle class.

I'm not far left, but I am left. I do not call people who do not support affirmative action racist. I would be hypocritical to do so as I have my own issues with it.

Far left wingers are just as bad as far right wingers. Extremes are generally not in the interest of the whole group.
As far as being labeled a racist......Are we not all entitled to our own beliefs and feelings??? The ones who call you "racist" are simply voicing THEIR opinions....so, you are certainly entitled to yours!!

Every one has a hint of racism in them. Those that say they aren't are only kidding themselves. I'd like to meet the person that never thought or felt a racial tension. Get real, phony liars.

I believe that affirmitive action is reverse racism.
It removes a persons motivation to better themselves as position and title are handed out based on color alone.
I find it stupifying that those that struggle against racism would embrace a thing like affirmitive action.
Effort, education and success are the best weapons against racism.
