The heat pad shouldn't hurt him. It's best to buy a heated rock, however. That way the iguana can go up to get warm and climb down if it gets too hot!

Meanwhile, make sure you have something he can climb on in case the bottom of the cage gets too warm for him!

The heat pad should be fine for overnight. Use a thermometer to check the actual temperature. DO NOT use a heat rock. Not only can they burn your iggy, if they get wet from misting (or him walking through the water dish, then over the rock) they will cause an electrical shock to him (or you)!!!!! Also check that your UV source has UVB. They need this to prevent metabolic bone disease (causes deformities). If you are using just a fluorescent UV bulb during the day, you can get a heat lamp or ceramic heat emitter to raise his daytime temperature and leave this on overnight (the heat lamp only produces red light, which many animals can't see, the CHE produces no light). For more info see the following sites (the first is the basics, the second will lead you to more info on iggies than you probably knew existed!):

Ok first off heat pads aren't for iguanas, and heat rocks are probably the worst thing ever invented for reptiles they burn your reptile and can kill them. I would suggest getting a ceramic heater they plug into the lamp up top and they give off no light but they do give off heat without burning your reptile, Heat pads are meant more for snakes and reptiles that stay on the ground most of the time and Iguanas are tree dwellers.Good luck and don't listen to most pet store employees they don't know anything and they are just trying to sell whatever they can they don't have the animals best interest in mind.

Here is a site that shows some heaters, I would go with either zoo med or exoterra. remember to pick the same wattage as the heat lamp you have now.

No harm will be done to your Iggy. As long as your heat pad or heat rock is designed for your pet and not a cheap knock off he runs no risk of being burned.Heat lamps work well provided Iggy can't get to it. Using a D3 vitamin with his food from time to time will make sure he's getting what he needs. Fresh water everyday is a must as well as a sturdy log, stick or platform for him to climb on. ( this helps keep his claws strong, clean and short.)

Do not use a heat rock as Iguanas sense thier heat from thier heads, and I unfortunatley have seen way too many Iguanas burned from using heat rocks. You can buy noctural heat bulbs to use at night. They are the afest bet. Good luck to you!!

It all depends on how big it is and what kind of cage it is but the need 95-100 degrees basking spot and 75-85 degree spot to cool down if it gets to hot and the need a bowl of water so they don't dehydrate.

The character above used to be improper whilst he mentioned that the loved ones refused to fill out an program. In truth, the loved ones crammed out an online program that's in which the rescue company bought their deal with. The loved ones didn't conform to dricve to the opposite town on a Sunday afternoon, flip over their puppy to any person they might in no way met and had no expertise of, earlier than filling out an in-retailer program, however they didn't lay out angle. (If you pay attention to the rescue company's attorney, he cautiously says "they refused to come back in and fill out an program" -- he thinks if he misleads humans at the same time arguably announcing some thing technically correct it one way or the other makes him much less responsible of deceptive humans.) Ellen and the rescue company each made severe mistakes in judgment, however the loved ones didn't. So in reply on your query, No, Ellen must no longer get the puppy again, however the company must no longer have grabbed the puppy from the loved ones alternatively than truthfully attempting to determine if the puppy used to be comfortable and in a well location.

If you really want to find out how to care for you Iguana go to Patricks Iguana Forum at:

http://patricksiguana.proboards23.com/index.cgi

This is an excellent site to join.

Whatever you do, do not use a heat rock. Too many burns occur when you use a heat rock. It is always better to use basking lights. This way you control his/her environment better.

Do go to the site, you won't regret it and tell them stano40 sent you.
