Is there any way to get it started besides jumping it with another vehicle (to drive it over to the battery shop)? This car has a 4sp OD automatic...

You will have to jump it to start it unless you just go buy a new battery and install it at home.

I can give you a few recommendations.
For about 50-60 dollars, there is a new jump-pack made by black and decker that you can get and re-use if you need it. It's about the size of a lunchbox, and has the ability to give some charge to your battery by plugging it into the cigarette lighter. It also has an emergency light, and is able to give some charge to a cell phone for emergencies. This might be a good investment.
You might also have your alternator checked. I had an old datsun that wouldn't start, and it was because the alternator was bad.
You might also check your battery. Look at the sticker on the top, and see what the date is on it. If it's an old battery, you might consider replacing it.
Otherwise, you'll have to see if you can jump it.
Does the engine even turn over? If you have power in the car(headlights, radio etc), and the engine doesnt crank at all, then it could be your starter.

A new battery for your car can't cost more then $50 or $60. Just buy one and be done with the problem. Dont buy a jump pack unless the problem continues, but if it does then the alternator is failing or you have a charging system short.

You can't bump start an auto, so you'll need someone else to jump it for you.
