some times I think some are the people on there really are a set up. I think they do it for more ratings.

I have to agree with you to some extent. I think the show's getting a bit over-the-top now, and I agree that no one would behave like some of those people unless they were getting paid for it. As far as the insults go, I just don't enjoy watching that any more. There are far too many "cruel" insults (and I'm assuming that's part of the set-up) that just aren't amusing. This show is getting too much of an ego, and I predict the ratings will go down this year.

I don't think they're set up, I think that people want to get on TV, and they know they can't sing well enough to get on like that, so they sing as badly as they can in order to get a better chance. Plus some people really don't know how bad they are.

I think some of them do want their 15 seconds of fame but others are truly clueless to how bad they sound. I also think Idol really sets them up...to fail of course but its all about the rating ya know!

I do agree! Those fools just want publicity or their 15 minutes of fame! Look at what happened with William Hung!

I don't think it was set up, but of course you gotta have something to be entertained with. If everybody on there could sing, when would you laugh?

Yes, I think they deliberately let some mildly retarded people and some headcases through to the first televised auditions.
