i fractured my radius (bone in the forearm) back in early summer last year and had to have a cast on for 6 weeks after being pushed.. a piece of the bone came off and went in the wrist joint.. occasionally my wrist still hurts (sharpish stabbing pains) is this normal? or is it something i should get checked out?

to the first answer.. :)

when i went to the doctor they said it might need 'manipulating' but after the pot was taken off he said that it would not need operating on since i had good flexibility in it already..

the piece was only small and he didnt seem to think this was a problem.. do you think i should get a second opinion?

I also broke my radius in 1989 and to this day still get stabbing pain for no apparent reason. I was told by my doctor that most likely arthritis set in because of the break? Who knows. The pain does not however last for very long and I would suggest you seeing your doctor if the pain last for very long in duration which could indicate some nerve damage as a result of the wrist being involved. Fracture in the wrist is often the hardest to diagnose because there are so many bones involved and some of them are tiny., Good luck

Wait. The xray showed a piece of the bone broke off? And what did the doctor say about it? No, it's not normal, and you don't say how big the piece is. I would go back to the doctor and have it re-xrayed. Probably need it removed. Sounds like it's sitting on a nerve.

I would definitely get that checked out. It just doesn't sound normal to me if you are still having pain

Why worry? Get an x-ray from your doctor. You won't stop worrying until you get an 'ok' from a professional.
