You can partition it when you install it using the manufacturer's software that comes with the hard drive. Or you can partition any installed hard drive using Norton's Partition Magic software product.

I guess u want to know how to partition a Hard Drive. Well in windows 200/xp u can simply right click on "My computer" and go to "Manage". Once the "Computer Management" Window opens up you can go to "Disk Management". Once in "Disk Management" you will have a Pictorial Representation of the Hard Drives on Your computer. You can right click on a Partition (Which does not have Windows installed) and partition it into smaller drives. You may also format Unallocated Space.
Also remember that for each drive there can be only be 4 Primary Partitions. To create more than 4 partitions you can create an Extendible Partition and create many logical drives within the extended partition.
Also remember that partitioning leads to loss of data on the drive you are partitioning. If u wish to retain data you may use Software such as partition Magic.

I,m not sure if you meant to say, how, or why?
How, I use partion magic
Why, to create 3, or 4 different partions, instead of
one big disk, some people put music, and movies on one,
operating system on another, etc.
Makes for easier reformatting later.
