I walked to Brixton, but ran through it.

I've been to Brixton Academy several times, both before and after the downgrading of cannabis. I think most people's problem with the area is the large number of black men around who look like they're selling drugs. On the tube I did get asked if I wanted anything, but when I said no, they pushed off without a hassle. It's not a bad place as such, but I wouldn't go anywhere in London on my own.

I went to a couple of concerts in Brixton....in the mid-70s!!! (I'm old.) I know it's considered to be a rough area but I didn't run into any trouble there.

My brother in law still lives there and it is definitely not a place to bring up children. We moved from that area 30 years ago and it was the best move we made.

Depends where you're coming from?!?
It's a pretty good communal vibe for both Black & White, if everyone stays cool, which they pretty well are these days!
But there's still Street Crime, as high as anywhere in London, apparently.

Its had bad press in the past, but its nicer now than it has been.
It's just another average London suburb.

I used to live in the better part of Clapham. I tried to avoid it, especially after dark.
