It would be awful if we had to wake up every day and have to figure out what to do all over again. Instead, we establish patterns, ways of behaving that work for us. Hopefully they work for the people around us, too. But mainly we do things "our way" because over time we did it that way a lot.

And what happened is this - each repetition caused neurotransmitters to grow and move dendrites (tiny filaments on a brain cell) to the other brain cells involved in the behavior until a pathway or neural network was formed that enables the behavior pattern. Now, it's basically hardwired and you just do it automatically without trying. You can, if you want, do something else. But that will require thought and effort. So mostly we do things out of habit - our way.

This really happens, and it explains why we're creatures of habit and why habits are so hard to break. They've been ingrained after years of reinforcement. They're hardwired, man.

It's comforting in a world of change to have small things that you can control and keep the same.

my speculation is that we are the animals of adaptation
our ability to adapt to which ever lifestlye we chose to have create the use of habits
good or not, we get use to it and it becomes a habit
hm, that's my guess =)
