my friend said she had twins, but 1 of them miscarriage, and 1 is still in her stomach. true??? is that possible?

Yes, and common.
Edited to add, it can also happen to identical twins. Sometime the fetal tissue from the twin that dies is absorbe, if you will, into the other twin. It happens very early in the twin pregnancy. Its called "vanishing twin syndrome."
Also, in very rare cases the twin that dies is aborbed into the other twin (fraternals) resulting in the surviving twin having two sets of DNA. This is known as a Chimera. The TLC show, "I am my own twin" covered this interesting topic.

Yes, most commonly know as a Twin To Twin Transfusion.
It is where one child takes all nutrients and other valuable things necessary to survive form the other twin.
My sister went through this and it is devistating.
It can result in one child being born healthy or both children dying.

Some people might not understand why you would doubt your friend. I know people that like to make up stories so I could understand you asking if this is possible. As for is it true or possible YES it is possible BUT that it happened to your friend NOT sure because I can't see in there, so people CAN'T tell you yes she is telling the truth they can only say that it could happen. You may never know if it really happened to her unless you go with her to her doctor's office and hear it from him.

No, that is not true. A lot of women experience a miscarriage without ever knowing. But most women do not miscarry their first pregnancy!

Yes, and you can watch IN THE WOMB on the National Geographic Channel. THey have it on about Twins and multiples in the womb. They talked about this very thing.

Yes, it can happen. My best friend in high school was a twin, and her twin died in the womb while she survived to be healthy.

Yes it can happen. I watched IN THE WOMB on the national geographic channel the other night. It talked about this. I'd go to their website. It was really interesting information.

yes, it is possible. I have twins and I almost lost one because her fluid was leaking and was running low. I was hospitalized and thank GOD they are okay now but yes, it is possible and common. my Dr. sat me down and told me all about the possibility of thuis happening when we found out that I was pregnant with twins

yes it is possible. i was told that i was pregnant with twins with my first two pregnancies. i never knew it because i miscarried one of the twins in my first trimester both times. the only reason my doctor knew that i should have had twins both times was because the surviving baby was surrounded with two sacs of amniotic fluid.
