Every time I get on iTunes, a window pops up and asks me to update my iPod to version 1.1.1. How will this change my iPod and what will it change. I have an iPod Nano 2GB. Please help. Thank you.

The 1.1.1 software update for iPod nano and Fifth Generation iPod provides an easy way for you to set a maximum volume limit to prevent the volume from exceeding a certain level. This feature works with any headphones attached to the headphone jack and with the iPod Radio Remote; other Apple and third-party accessories are not supported with this feature. You can also assign a combination to prevent the setting from being changed which is ideal for parental control.

Updating iPod
First, it is important to understand the difference between "update" and "restore."

"Update" simply updates the software that controls iPod and does not affect the songs and files stored on iPod.

"Restore" erases the iPod and restores it to its original factory condition. Because restoring iPod erases all of the songs, videos, photos, and files on iPod, make sure to back up your files first.

it won't change the ipod at all. it just updates the software thats it. it won't touch your songs at all. itunes has to be updated every once in a while because some items from the itunes store need the latest software or hardware.

In order for your iPod to funtion properly it has a software in its hard drive. when they update that software you get that dialog box asking you to update it.
Also iTunes get updates along with your iPod software.

Good luck to you anyways.
