Support for children is STATE LAW - parents cannot avoid it nor decide against it .
Re: back support. If it was court ordered NO ONE can relieve the payer of that debt but the courts.

you don't give enough info to be sure of a correct answer. each state has its own rules. in most instances a minor child has no authority to "discharge" a child support debt because it is owed to to the custodial parent not the child. once a child has reached theage of 18 years most courts cede the right to collect unpaid child support to the child for 3 years after which even the child cannot collect. you need to check with the attorney generals office in your state.

Nope, it's a state mandated penalty for having children. The only person that cancel your back child support is the person you owe the money to.
