hey, sometimes i feel like me and my twin sis are the only nostalgic people..like we love seeing christmas lights or candles on in people's windows, cats sitting on window ledges, and hearing from others who are far away when we are in school (like from my dad at work, or my grandma in the hospital)
This may seem weird to some people, but if anyone feels like this, write it. i wanna know who else is like this!!!

I miss some things about my childhood, especially around the holidays. Then again, there are quite a few things I'd like to never be able to remember again.
But, I do get nostalgic when:
1. I see a couple with a new baby (my sons are grown.)
2. A newlywed couple obviously in love (I've been married 28 years)
3. When I see a child who is very well-behaved and says things like "please" and "thank you" and yes, ma'am" or "yes sir." Boy, those were the days, huh?
4. I get nostalgic when I see a serviceman or woman, because it reminds me of the good times I had in the Army and the sense of purpose and discipline it gave to me.
5. I get very nostalgic on my wedding anniversary; not for things I may have lost, but for looking forward to what comes next.
6. I get very nostalgic when I see an elderly couple as it reminds me of my grandparents, whom I greatly miss.
7. I get really choked up at a wedding or a baptism, because these are constant reminders of the newness of life and bright promises for the future.
8. I can get very nostalgic hearing the laughter of children and the sound of a school bell for it reminds me of my elementary school days, when I didn't have a care in the world.
9. When I hear the song "Let's just kiss and say goodbye," because it reminds me of the one time my wife and I had to be separated for awhile due to military obligation. That is now "our" song, and will be forever.
10. Last and final one - when I hear the song "Shady Grove," because it reminds me so much of the little stone church I knew when I lived in West Virginia as a kid.

We are relational beings. Part of our human nature is to see beauty around, or to create it where there's none. I myself am a romantic person and tend to reminiscence moments that were pleasant. During Christmas time, especially, I miss to be with someone, called it family, friends or that especial someone. Introvert people are more nostalgic than extrovert ones. And if you add to this a good childhood experience, then you're a perfect candidate to sigh with almost every breath you take :D

I don't know... I think I am to a certain degree because I like to think there is still an amount of good in the world and something left of the past. Probably why I drive an old car and live far from the city... and still listen to 8-track tapes.

I get terribly nostalgic, but usually in early Autumn. I guess it's because that's when school would start.

I am. I like it when Christmas is about something more than fourth quarter market spikes and people have American made candles in their windows, rather than the ones made by 8-year-old Tiawanese kids. I love when I see Native Americans outside cigar stores, because we stole their ideas before we took their land and lives. I like when I see the big-lipped statues of poor black kids fishing. reminds me of the continuous capitalist opression we proudly pretend isn't happening. I love when I smell fresh cookies coming from my grandmother's oven, because it means that waste of air finally died and someone else bought her house.
