It is not true. Look at John Kerry. He would have been the richest president we ever had, but he lost.

I believe that our government is the best on the earth, but the men who are there shape the way it runs.
Men will always seek to remain in power by any means possible. Money, scandal, even lying under oath - all these are not too low for a man who loves power.
That is why there can never be a perfect "utopia" of government - man will lead it. There are no perfect men, so we cannot have a perfect government.
And as the fellow said, we are a republic, and thank God we are! A true democracy, with this nation of people, would likely crumble in months, if not weeks!! (Especially when you consider all those who would like to see the USA collapse)

Its the way the game is played. Unfortunetely, we have way too many sheeple in the US + we never really get a good idea of what the candiates are really about. Nor do we ever really get good candidates- why? Because decent people who do run, get killed and are not the greatest politicians. Like it or not, to get things done you have to play the politics-- thats why its called that.
The money in their capaign funds drive exposure to the sheeple. Very few people will acutally READ what the candidates positions are. Why do you think folks like bush really won? Bumper sticker mentality and staying on message. The simply run better campaigns than the Dems do (well, except for Bubba-- ya gotta admit he ran good campaigns).

Hello,
Ya! I always said,`They should take someone who comes from a large family, cut out coupons and has only so much money to do for the rest of the month.
Maybe mom or dad, farmer, trucker or just some everyday hard worker to run the country.`
And remember, ``Don`t steal the government can`t take competition.

Michael Huffington's candidacy for Senator/Congressman in California is an example where this does not hold. Also, I believe Steve Forbe's failed run for President is another good example. Otherwise we would all be addressing Bill Gates as Mr. President.

No. What was the problem with John Kerry and his Sugar Momma? That guy could not find pockets deep enough to get him elected.

Actually in the 2004 election John Kery spent $13,444,338 on hotels and air travel alone.
Bush spent a paltry $2,107,122.

Actually, we're technically not a democracy. We're a republic. When we vote for a new president, we are voting for the people in the electorial college who will vote for the presidents we want them to.
So if you have the money, you have the vote.

America is not a democracy. It is a Republic. At least know what you're angry about.
