Did you see the guy on the sidelines? He was trying to motivate the players by cussing and yelling like some nazi maniac. Did this contribute to their playoff loss?

YES!
The circumstantial evidence is right there.
His head is enormous, probably up a hat size or two.
His balls have shrunken tremendously. He's got none for making big play decisions. This killed them in the playoffs against NE.
That and the 'roid rage you observed, and the case is made for Marty "Vitamin S" Shottenheimer.
Merriman just left his locker ajar after practice...
