Please, first, my condolences. You must be hurting.
In your pain, you may not have thought about the method which you used to approach people...
E-mail tends to be a weird forum anyway, wherein people dash off what they think quickly sometimes.
And we totally don't get the tone of voice.
People need to learn e-mail etiquette in maybe second grade nowadays, so that they are not misinterpreted this way!
Because, I can see how you felt upset by it!
I'm sure he meant well, and jsut didn't really put time in to craft an empathic message that was fool-proof.

I don't think it's weird or rude. Your friend either never had someone close to him faced with death, or recently had someone faced with death. So he is probably kind of hardened by reality, which is not the point you are at, since your emotions are involved. He probably didn't mean anything by it. Good luck with your grandfather!

I think your friend means well, but you have to understand they do not have the Love for your Grandfather that you do, because its YOUR GrandFather. Do what you feel is best for your Grandfather. Use your head and your heart.. best Wishes

I don't think I'd react at all. Some people aren't skilled writers, and if you think he meant well but didn't make his point with very much sympathy, don't worry about it.
It's hard to say more than that, because we don't know what your email said.

What an insensitive jerk. You don't need this kind of person around while you are dealing with your granddad.
Have you considered adult day care or assisted senior living?

Even though your friend may have been trying to be helpful their response was insensitive. I think your reaction is quite normal.
