Especially with children in your life, your job should be something you have a passion for. I don't like sales either. That's why I work at home and will not stock or deliver ever again. You might like this international company. See my profile because yahoo doesn't like for us to relay links. Good Luck! I love watching my husband play the guitar every second I get!!

Welcome to the club... ha ha... Im 24 with one kid and Im stuck in a dead end job. Waitressing and bartending. I didnt go to college either and sometimes I feel like crap about myself cause I feel like I cant do much with my life with no college education. But at the end of the day, I look at what Im doing and I realize no matter what I do, Ive got my kid who is a Godsend and I am providing for her, and no matter what, that little girl thinks the world of me. You do what youve gotta do to provide for your child and when the time comes for you to be able to make a move into a different career then so be it. Dont get too down on it, cause what your doing is a good thing... not a deadbeat dad that isnt providing. You have a job that is doing for you what you need it to do. If you end up where you have the extra money to make a move into corrections than thats great, just try not to bounce around your priorities just to get into the corrections academy if its going to be hurtful for a little time. Get yourself to a point where you can do that before you actually do it on impulse!

Good luck to ya!!

Ever thought of learning to drive semi? If you go with a reputable company, they will furnish training in return for 1 or 2 years work, furnish truck, and have good dispatchers. Smaller companies are best. Be careful if you decide to go that route though. Some companies will offer to train you, but will try to lease you a truck. Leasing is a way for the company to enlist "slave" labors.
When the children are growing up, certain companies will also allow you to take children, spouses, and pets with.
I drove truck with my husband for a few years and enjoyed it very much. I feel it is a good way to see the country and also be paid.

Try to find what makes you come alive and you could do for the rest of your life. Nobody can tell you for you, because everyone's different. Read a wide variety of books to expose you to the world and different oppertunities. Try politics, science, maths, literature, economics, anything. Eveyone has something they would love to do, even if they have not fould it. I know you mentioned music, but you have to be really good. If you are and are confident go for it, but check out other possiblities first.
