They promise to work to give all their customers the highest speed (up to 8mb) i've been stuck at 2.2mb since signing on... just wanted to see if anyone else had been more lucky?

Yes. I was on 2Mb/s and upgraded to 8Mb/s with a new 12 month contract. I have now measured my speed as teetering around 6.4Mb/s as measured by:
http://www.speedtester.bt.com/

Quite a lot of these so-called speed test report incorrectly!
When I try some others they report ~3.0Mb/s. This is nonsense. Another good way to measure yr speed is to max out yr connection by downloading from a hefty server a number of times and do the maths. I like to confirm the results of the link above with downloads from http://www.dailymotion.com/ using a Firefox extension called Videodownloader. This allows you to download videos at very fast speeds. I get ~800KB/s with one file and this divided by the number of parallel files but the total is the same...

Just be careful where you get yr measurement from.

You share your connection with other users. Max used to be 50 users. Think it 100 to 150 now so it slows things down. Also depends where you live. London area forget it lol. To many users. Check your area for something like this http://www.shmufm.net/ click on wi fi it's rolling out all over the uk. regards

2.2mbps is pretty decent, if you shut off everything running in the background, and there is a bunch in WinXP, you could see an improvement. Axell explains it for gamers pretty good.

There is a list on the side you can select your OS and then make a backup before making any changes.

Nah it's useless although I have noticed that mine slows down dramatically sometimes and then when I pull them up about it it magically goes back up and they say that there isn't anything wrong with it!!!

thats about the best speed you will get, the higher speed is hype which is not yet achievable.
