Until recently I'd lived all my life in Leeds and London and I wasn't even aware it was 800 this year.

I can't imagine anyone will be celebrating and looking at the council's website it seems like nothing has been planned. The 'events' listed on the website are annual events anyway - there's no special celebrations.

I'm more likely to celebrate one year of not living in Leeds.

Having just moved to Sydney, Australia 8 weeks ago from Leeds (my hometown). I shall make a huge effort to make sure that everyone I meet from now on knows where Leeds is and that it is 800 years old too.

Probably the same way as we celebrated the other 799... not at all. It's just another year and people aren't paticularly patriotic anymore anyway so why bother?
