what cause this error, mskd etct.exe-application error

I'm wondering if you are trying to network 2 or more home PC's? Depending on the networking device you purchased, (we have Cisco Systems) the software pkg should have been enclosed with it. Before we connected, we loaded the software then shut down the computers, waited about 4 minutes, then connected the external wires to the appropriate ports. Then we turned the computers back on, and it was able to recognize the external hardward networking devices. We are on Comcast high speed, and this worked very well.
