I think it is the periodic phenomenon known as El Nino which has developed in the Pacific Ocean that is causing extreme weather in many parts of the world.

El Ninos begin with a warming of waters in the eastern Pacific, and there has been a steep rise in water temperatures.

This El Nino was expected to strengthen towards the end of last year and early into 2007, as it has.

However it is not expected to reach the strength of the 1997 phenomenon.

I have a theory
Some super villian has turned on a weather machine and instead of simply obliterating the UK with a lightning bolt they plan on hvaing it literally "blown away" only , it will be stopped at the last possible minute by James Bond (the Sean Connery one and not the new one) before the UK is sent hurtling into space

This global warming thing is not always the reason - in 1990 there were really strong winds - lots of people died. It's called the weather and is unpredictable - the global warming thing gets a bit tiresome............

Can't say. Apparently the weather in the Netherlands is horrendous (but you won't hear it on the American media, because their response is making our's to Katrina look even worse.).

I think it's El Nino. Couldn't tell you much more, though.

Isn't it mad? Weather like this happens in the winter season, sometimes not on this scale but it certainly does happy. All this talk about the hole in the ozone layer... how do they know I thought it was invisible??
