Let's hope we don't do any worse than last time. Perhaps if there were a principled moderate on one of the tickets (Joe Lieberman? Zell Miller? Colin Powell?), or if a principled third-party candidate ran on a successful "issue" platform and refused to sign any legislation until the "issue" was resolved successfully. For example, a candidate who ran on a congressional reform platform and refused to sign any legislation until the Congress passed term limit and tranparency legislation and related constitutional amendments.
Given the crappy candidates from whom we've been "privileged" to choose, yes, I can wait. But I will also hope.
