I guess you have already counted the votes and know that Maadi is one of the best residential areas in Cairo. I however feel the need to add a few more details.

There are 2 seperate Maadis, new and old. Old Maadi is much better, mostly villas with gardens and a few buildings. Peaceful, clean and safe. New Maadi is very different and is just a few blocks away, big buildings, very commercial, noisy and not very pleasent.

Make sure it is old Maadi and not the new one, huge difference. One last note, Maadi is a bit far down town Cairo. Depending on what time of the day, but it is a 30-60 minute drive. Maadi is a bit isolated but a great place to reside.

Good luck

For us Americans, every area is boring here. But, I think Maadi is the nicest and quietest city in Cairo. I've been living here for 3 years now, and I kinda got used to it.

Well it's one of the nicest areas in Cairo. I know many American people and other Westerners who live there (and in Zamalek too) more than any other place in Cairo.

Yes it's a very nice area! It's very quiet and has lots of gardens and greenery. Many foreigners live there as well as in Zamalek. They are both along the nile with very nice views.
You'll love it! :)
