When playing, the sound is awful. It kind of sounds like everything is acoustic & a tad distorted. The vocals are really quiet. What happened?? Any ideas or is this bound for kindling in my fireplace??

My Nano 4G did that after getting it wet while downhill skiing - I let it dry out for a week in a warm spot in my house (table close to a floor vent) and it started working and playing correctly again. If it is toast, take it back to your place of purchase and try to get an exchange. Do not burn it in your fireplace - the battery will explode.

Use your iTunes to do a full system reset of the variables and then try the songs again..
