There is a theory that says if you have sex several days before ovulation, your baby will most likely be a girl. This is because the little girl sperm swim slower and live longer than the boy sperm, so at the time of ovulation the only sperm that is left is female. If you have sex the day before, the day of, and the day after ovulation, your baby will be a boy. This is because the boy sperm swim quicker and will reach the egg before the girl sperm.
Is what I was wondering, is how correct is this theory? Has anyone else ever heard of it? Has anyone tried it to prove if it is correct? Did this theory work for you?

It is exactly that, just a theory. actually it is more of a rumor than a theory, because although many people believe this to be true, in the scientific community it is well known that this has never been able to be proven.
just another old wives tale.

Yes, I have heard of the theory... And it has been proven correct, about the girl living longer and the boy swimming faster. I am not sure about the sex timing thing. We tried for a boy and we must have miscalculated our ovulation date because we ended up with the most beautiful little girl I have ever seen. People stop us at the mall and everywhere just to look at her. You can try any theory you want but god will give you what he wants you to have... and no, I am not religious and I do not go to church but you must believe someone has a plan that works... LOL.... Good luck and happy parenting (if that is what you are asking for. )

I am not sure if the theory works or not, I personally believe it is up to the sperm to decide what the gender of the baby will be. I had sex every single day while I was trying to conceive and I am having a boy.

I have 3 boys and am pregnant with a girl. I read all sorts of things on how to conceive a girl, but in the end said whatever, I just want a baby..lol. My husband and I had sex on my ovulation day and I got my girl, So I just think its a 50/50 chance no matter waht you do.

I have heard of this since I spent the past year and a half TTC. We got pregnant in August and because of all the science and timing, I know when I ovulated in respect to when we had sex.
According to the theory, we were timed for a boy and the ultrasound backs thatup.
Other than that I have no definitve proof.

They swim slower because....they're weighed down by that extra half of a chromosome? I've never heard of it before, and it sounds kind of bogus to me. It might make sense, but only in the way that whole bunk health scare of antiperspirant-causes-breast-cancer does.

I have never heard of it... I believe it is 50/50 no matter what you eat, drink, wear, what position you were in , when... I think people should be happy with what ever God gives them & quit trying to mess with the system... You will love your boy or girl equally regardless of its sex, because it is yours!

Our first child was a boy so my wife wanted a girl for our second child. We tried and few of these "theory's" not sure if it was that one you speak of. Anyway we had a girl. I really doudt doing those things increased our chances. But we did have a girl
