HI Jem

I fully understand you because I have a similar problem and it recently came to my attention that Mineral Makeup is the best stuff around for all skin types, esp. our type, because it contains just pure raw materials without the harsh stuff added.

Depending on where in the world you live, u can find out if any department stores offer any brands of mineral makeup (just google it) but if u are in the UK, I would recommend www.lilylolo.com because they offer fantastic powder foundations and everything else which u can first buy in small sized samples to test whether the colour is suitable or not, before u invest in the big tub.

You cannot go wrong with mineral makeup because its like makeup and skincare rolled into one. This website also provides full guidance on how to determine the undertones of your skin, so that u have a better chance of finding the correct shade. Actually you can mix two shades of powder foundations if u want to create your own unique shade! I would definitely recommend this product to everyone

Well I have really pale skin, so naturally I pick up the palest foundation there is. I suggest firstly you decide what colour your skin is, light, medium, or dark etc then match it with the colours, take a picture of yourself and take it with you when you go and buy a foundation, it makes it a lot easier. I use Gosh foundation, and even though it's quite cheap it's fab! It rubs in perfectly and blends with your natural skin colour and hides spots. You can buy this from Superdrug, or I'm sure if you look around you'll find it anywhere else.

Prescriptives is great :)

They start by finding out which colour group your skin belongs to - yellow/orange, red/orange, red, blue/red by testing all four kinds (small amounts) on your skin. They they go through the shades in that colour group.

They have foudations for all types, dry, combination, oily etc..

You can even customise your own foundation - They will match your skin tone exactly!! they will mix and mix and mix colours until they get your correct skin tone colour, then you can decide if you want a moisturising foundation, oil-control, heavy cover, natural etc....

It's a bit pricey but definately worth it! It looks great and lasts ages! Worth the money rather than wasting money on lots of not-so-good products!

John Lewis, House of Fraser, Selfridges sell it.

Try it, youll love it!

I have oily skn and use Flawless Skin Foundation - now I don't even need to touch up on powder for the whole of the day! Amazing! It was about £30.

Covergirl True Match.. I am fair skinned, and everytime I got a foundation I would have to use it sparringly because it was slightly darker no matter what so as to avoid "pancake face" or dreadful "makeup line".. with covergirl true match that comes in cool, warm or neutral tones in every single possible shade (they even have a shade lighter than me.. thats never happened before!!) i can use as much foundation as i want and not have to worry about makeup line or looking too made up it looks soooo natural and it was sooo cheap! the coverage is great and it doesnt dry out my skin. hope this helped! =)

if u go to sephora or any department store to buy the stuff, they should have salespeople that can help you find the best shade. but if you dont have anyone to help you, find a foundation that has a yellow undertone so that it can counteract any redness you may want to cover up. find one that is labelled non-comedogenic (won't cause blackheads), hypoallergenic (allergy- tested), and non- acnegenic (won't cause acne), and oil- free. you can't really pick a color off the internet or whatever, because it's best to actually try it on. a good foundation should look natural and blend right into your skin tone. as for the names of actual products, i can't help you there, because I don't know your preferences.
good luck!

i use one from superdrug, its the me me me range and its called 'mousse me smooth barley there' foundation £9 its an air whipped mousse that blends really easily giving even coverage. i also find that if you get a few zits you can dab this on with a cotton bud and it stays put so no need for concealer!
If you really can't decide pop into your local boots to the number 7 counter they are more than happy to help and advise, they will even let you apply before you buy with no obligation- provided you don't take the piss x in fact most make up counters will offer this service just ask- sometimes you'll get freebies too!!!

Go to Clinique's website (www.clinique.com) and get your "Skin Report". It will tell you which skin type you have and what types of foundation are best for you. That doesn't mean you have to buy their products, but it will give you an idea of which route to go. What works for me (I'm a Type 2) will not work for you if you're a 1, 3, or 4.

And if you actually go to a Clinique store, they will match your skin tone PERFECTLY... I have never seen such a huge selection of shades.

Liquid is the fine in my view, it belnds better, less difficult to control the applying, & appears extra usual & doesn'tdry out the epidermis. Recommendations **be certain you follow moisturizer about 5 minutes before applying foundation * also handiest observe basis to those areas of the face that genuinely want protection. If you happen to follow it all over the place, it is going to look un-usual & cakey.

Bare Essencuals is a mineral based make up that is good for your skin. Also it gives excellent cover, I would think ideal for acne. You can access it through the QVC web site. I would not use anything else.
