Please use parenthesis: do you mean (n/8) - 17= -15?

First: eliminate parenthesis > multiply the denominator by everything...

(8)(n/8) - (8)(17) = (8)(-15)

Sec: cross cancel "like" terms & combine the remaining terms...

n - 136 = - 120

Third: solve for "n" by isolating it on one side > add 136 to both sides...

*When you move a variable to the opposite side, use the opposite sign (operation).

n - 136 + 136 = - 120 + 136
n = 16
