I had a tongue ring and took it out after about a year.

Reasons I got it/kept it in:
- One boyfriend loved it,
- I liked the way it looked
- It was fairly subtle (not easily seen)
- Some people thought it was sexy
- It was fun to play with

Reasons I took it out:
- It was the most painful piercing of all of the ones I have and eating and drinking afterwards was extremely difficult and painful (and that's with a perfectly healthy piercing and healing time-nothing went wrong)
- Food got stuck around it (very gross)
- It got irritating after a while
- I got used to it and it lost it's shock value
- One boyfriend hated it

I have my tongue pierced (Ive had it pierced for almost 6 years)! The Cons: the healing process sux (swelling, food limitations, alcohol limitations for the first day, the cost, mouth rinse, etc)... It also hurts when you bite into the barbell which will happen every now and then! Your dentist definately wont approve! I realize its something I could have lived without but I feel naked when I take it out (one day Ill let it close up)! The Pros: slim to none... It really doesnt benefit you in anyway (despite rumors that it enhances sexual pleasure for the opposite sex) and its a perk if you like how it looks, also it doesnt hurt at all to have the piercing done... Its the after affect that is annoying!

I agree. NO!!! Too much bacteria, to problematic. I had one and I kept trying to spit it out in my sleep. I also don't like the stereotype that goes along with it. You don't want to attract guys that think just because I have a tongue ring that they are entitled to a certain type of "service"

i say no tongue ring because if you get it peirced wrong your tongue could split in half. and you can never take it out. and it always moves forward, leaving a weird line on your tongue. trust me it is a huge mistake

eww... no tongue ring... It's nasty and for 18 year olds that want to "rebel" against their parents... If you're 18, do it, it's what all the "cool" kids are doing... haha...

I say NO. Too much bacteria in the mouth despite gargling with Listerine.

No, none, zip....

Unless you are a die-hard goth with no life and less soul, it is a fading fad that is more trouble then you can imagine

The only people that push it are the people that got one and won't admit what a f*ing useless thing it is.

hmmm... was I subtle enough in my opinion ???

well its a good choice cause its discreate and it doesnt hurt but it messes up your teeth. I had one and i took it off so it closed but i would probably get it again. After a while you dont even know its there.
if you decide to get it, eat a lot of ice and take good care of it.
