I just saw on the news that a 50-yr old female ape gave birth. How long do they live?

that is pretty rare that a 50 year old ape gave birth - interesting... most apes in captivity live to be in their 50-60's some live a little longer others a little less. In the wild they usually don't live quite that long because they have no medical checkups and have more stress from competition for food, territory and severe environmental factors (floods, fires, wars, human-caused incidents)

Chimps seem to live about as long as we do, with proper medical treatment....of course, since they are an animal, they are euthanized when they get old, and have chronic pain, while we, on the other hand, seem to prefer stuffing our old and sick into nursing homes, to prolong their miserable existence.

Orangutans seem to live about 50 years....Gorillas about 70, same as us.

Bonobos, 70, same as us...

Hmm.... The 5th great ape, Homo Sapien, seems to live about 75 years on average, but many are known to live to 100, with proper medical care. Same as us....oh wait....that one IS us...LOL

Namaste,

Tom
