The DOD pedals are pretty good the BOSS pedals are better but the top of the heap the creme De la creme are the old(original) Electroharmonix pedals if you can find one then hold on to it for dear life (as if I would need to tell you that if you had ever used one) .

Get yourself an original Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer for all types of distortion (try placing it before a distorted amp for real high-gain mayhem) or a Mesa-Boogie V-Twin for devastating sonic insanity.

Try one of the processors, like a Digitech or a Boss. They have multiple sounds, so you can dial in the exact sound you want.
